This day was established as an initiative of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the United Nations<\/a> in collaboration with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wfeo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block stk-43c345e\" data-block-id=\"43c345e\"><h4 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">What is it?<\/h4><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development<\/strong> aims to promote engineering as an opportunity to make the world a better place.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engineering has always played a key role in the development and well-being of humanity. At Grupo \u00c1lava, we want future generations of engineers and scientists to be able to devise solutions to local and global challenges. There are four basic principles for making this happen:    <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>First and foremost,<strong> inclusion<\/strong>\u2014through universal access to new technologies and basic utilities such as water, electricity, the Internet, and so on. All of this is intended to enable societies to develop in a peaceful and healthy environment.   <\/li><li>Second, <strong>climate change<\/strong>. By creating new infrastructure and processes that enable the reduction of emissions and help ensure survival in the face of potential adverse weather events.   <\/li><li>On the other hand, it is important to consider<strong> sustainable economic development<\/strong>. Let\u2019s build in a way that meets the needs of the population, but also those of the environment. Respect for the environment is essential to achieving this.    <\/li><li>We must not neglect<strong> innovation<\/strong> by incorporating the latest technologies into areas that have traditionally been left out of the digital transformation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block stk-f6b7e44\" data-block-id=\"f6b7e44\"><style>.stk-f6b7e44{margin-bottom:23px !important}<\/style><h4 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">the role of engineers<\/h4><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engineers play a key role in promoting a new global model of sustainable development, in line with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/es\/objetivos-de-desarrollo-sostenible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong><\/a> . The main reason for this is that their work has a significant social and environmental impact, and their technical expertise is indispensable.<strong> They are responsible for driving innovation, both technologically (the Internet of Things, robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, etc.) and through new methods<\/strong> that help citizens continue to obtain the resources they need without putting the planet at risk. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/es.unesco.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNESCO<\/a>, as a specialized agency of the United Nations, prioritizes activities that raise awareness of engineering as a career, as well as those that <a href=\"https:\/\/grupoalava.rearmachine.com\/corporativo\/la-ciencia-necesita-a-las-mujeres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">encourage young people to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block stk-fdfb16d\" data-block-id=\"fdfb16d\"><style>.stk-fdfb16d{margin-bottom:23px !important}<\/style><h4 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\">Sustainable Development at GRUPO \u00c1LAVA<\/h4><\/div>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>As engineers, we have a great responsibility to society.
