The most common types of failures diagnosed in industrial pumps are: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Imbalance<\/li>\n<li>Coupling Misalignment<\/li>\n<li>Bench failures, resonance<\/li>\n<li>Bearing Failures<\/li>\n<li>Cavitation<\/li>\n<li>Errors related to propulsion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Monitoring Systems<\/h2>\n<h3>The recommended monitoring systems for this type of machine are:<\/p>\n<p>Offline vibration<\/h3>\n<p>Monitoring of failure-mode parameters using periodic vibration inspection routes with <a title=\"Product Types\" href=\"https:\/\/www.preditec.com\/productos\/vibraciones\/equipos-portatiles\/colectores-de-vibracion\/\">portable vibration sensors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Online Vibration and Temperature Monitoring<\/h3>\n<p>Here, we distinguish between pumps with shafts supported by plain bearings and pumps with roller bearings. We outline what would constitute basic monitoring, since each vibration parameter can be analyzed and broken down into several more precise monitoring parameters when advanced predictive diagnostic systems are used. <\/p>\n<p>Pumps with plain bearings<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"com aligncenter\" title=\"Monitoring of a Pump with Bearings\" src=\"https:\/\/www.preditec.com\/rep\/cc16\/imagenes\/505502\/8\/monitorizacion-de-bomba-con-cojinetes.jpg\" alt=\"Monitoring of a Pump with Bearings\"><\/p>\n<p><em>  Image courtesy of API670, 5th Ed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In pumps whose shafts are supported by plain bearings, the following parameters are continuously monitored:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Radial vibration at each bearing. Two displacement probes positioned at 90\u00b0 at each bearing (microns peak-to-peak) <\/li>\n<li>Axial positioning of the shaft. Two redundant displacement sensors (microns peak-to-peak) <\/li>\n<li>Bearing temperature. Two sensors per bearing <\/li>\n<li>Temperature of the active axial bearing. Two sensors per bearing <\/li>\n<li>Temperature of the passive axial bearing. One accelerometer sensor per bearing or per set of bearings on the same housing (mm\/s rms) <\/li>\n<li>High-frequency parameter for monitoring bearing condition, e.g., acceleration envelope, spike energy&#8230; This parameter is obtained from the same accelerometer sensor used to measure vibration. <\/li>\n<li>Temperature of each bearing housing.
