{"id":66666,"date":"2021-09-08T16:21:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T14:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grupoalava.rearmachine.com\/terrestrial-remote-sensing-for-forestry-applications\/"},"modified":"2026-06-23T16:50:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T14:50:32","slug":"terrestrial-remote-sensing-for-forestry-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grupoalava.rearmachine.com\/en\/terrestrial-remote-sensing-for-forestry-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrestrial Remote Sensing for Forestry Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 1, we attended the Workshop on Near-Earth Remote Sensing for Forestry Applications, organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usc.gal\/es\/centro\/escuela-politecnica-superior-ingenieria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Higher Polytechnic School of Engineering<\/a> (EPSE) at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usc.gal\/es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Santiago de Compostela<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main objective of the workshop is to share scientific findings and <strong>practical applications of technology in the forestry sector<\/strong>, as well as to provide hands-on experience with operational aspects of data collection and analysis. It consists of scientific and technical sessions in a conference format, as well as practical field data collection sessions for subsequent analysis and computer processing. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sergio-garcia-fernandez-sistemas-embarcables\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sergio Garc\u00eda<\/a> from \u00c1lava Ingenieros explains how to merge terrestrial and aerial LIDAR data in forest environments. For the data collected from the ground, a demonstration using Riegl\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/grupoalava.rearmachine.com\/control.grupoalava.com\/ingenieros\/productos\/imagen\/tecnologia-lidar\/laser-escaner-terrestre\/\">VZ-400i<\/a> equipment is featured. In addition to delivering top performance in demanding environments and conditions, this equipment combines an innovative processing architecture, internet connectivity, and a set of MEMS sensors with Riegl\u2019s latest laser scanning technology.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Real-time data collection is made possible by two processing platforms that allow for simultaneous data acquisition, waveform processing, real-time recording, referencing, filtering, and analysis.
