About fifteen years ago, when we looked with trepidation at the risks of short-term management in companies, the seeds were being sown for what we are now reaping: iconic companies in ruins and a public administration that is burdened with debt and mortgaging the future of these companies by transferring the results of their management to them via taxes.<\/p>\n

We are closing out 2012, a year that will go down in history as one of the worst on record for the economy. But in the face of this dire situation, there are companies that are taking advantage of opportunities arising outside of Spain; far from becoming discouraged, they are crossing our borders to secure and carry out projects with the same expertise they have always demonstrated. <\/p>\n

We are leveraging Spanish expertise and common sense as a management model for projects of all kinds, and we are already reaping the benefits.<\/p>\n

In this issue, we feature an interesting interview with Mr. Antonio Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez Guerrero, a leading figure in Spain\u2019s maintenance sector, in which he analyzes the current and future state of industrial maintenance. We also examine the current trends in the evolution and cost reduction of technologies used to implement continuous monitoring systems for critical machinery. Now is the time to move toward automation in data collection for machinery monitoring. We also examine why some predictive maintenance plans fail to deliver the expected results and how the most common mistakes can be avoided. Another article explains the contribution of predictive maintenance to the reliability of industrial plants and the challenges typically encountered during its implementation. Finally, we delve into the details of hydraulic turbine monitoring and examine a case of resonance in a steam turbine. <\/p>\n
