This aerosol is transported by argon to the plasma torch, where it is subjected to high temperatures that raise the elements in the sample to higher energy states. When these elements return to their fundamental state, they emit electromagnetic radiation at specific wavelengths, generating atomic emission spectra that are measured to determine the concentration
