O projeto <b>NASCAR Next Gen<\/b> marca uma nova era para o mais alto n\u00edvel das corridas de stock car. O CEO Brandon Thomas e uma equipa de engenheiros propuseram-se desenvolver o carro de corrida de s\u00e9tima gera\u00e7\u00e3o que entraria em competi\u00e7\u00e3o a partir de 2022. Para al\u00e9m das numerosas melhorias de desempenho, este novo design ajudar\u00e1 a reduzir o significativo custo operacional das corridas. Al\u00e9m disso, v\u00e1rios pilotos comunicaram um calor excessivo no habit\u00e1culo, o que era motivo de preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o, pois amea\u00e7ava o conforto e a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o do condutor. A fonte principal deste aumento de calor n\u00e3o foi imediatamente evidente, o que levou a NASCAR a convidar a Teledyne FLIR para uma prova de conceito em Richmond, VA, com o objetivo de identificar a origem do problema.  <\/p>\n<p>A FLIR montou duas c\u00e2maras t\u00e9rmicas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vision-artificial.es\/producto\/camaras-termograficas\/lwir-flir-a50-70\/\">A50<\/a> no habit\u00e1culo do carro: uma direcionada para os p\u00e9s do condutor e outra na c\u00e9lula de seguran\u00e7a para obter uma vista de grande angular. As novas c\u00e2maras A50 foram concebidas para a monitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o de condi\u00e7\u00f5es de montagem fixa e visualizam as altera\u00e7\u00f5es de temperatura para detetar o mau funcionamento ou o sobreaquecimento do equipamento. Isto permitiu \u00e0 NASCAR controlar as flutua\u00e7\u00f5es de temperatura e identificar as zonas mais quentes do carro durante as corridas mais longas.  <\/p>\n<p>Antes dos testes, as teorias iniciais sobre o problema do calor apontavam para o novo sistema de escape duplo. Com os gases quentes a fluir por baixo do condutor e a sair pela direita e pela esquerda do ve\u00edculo, todos os olhares estavam postos na c\u00e2mara montada na zona dos pedais. No entanto, foi a c\u00e2mara t\u00e9rmica secund\u00e1ria de grande angular que trouxe algum esclarecimento: os percursos mais longos revelaram que o calor excessivo penetrava no painel corta-fogo existente entre o motor e o habit\u00e1culo.
