Description
Crowcon’s fixed systems are the backbone of plant safety. Consisting of strategically located detectors connected to a central control panel, they monitor 24/7 for the presence of hazardous gases. They trigger local alarms and can initiate automatic actions, such as an emergency shutdown or ventilation.

Safety in an industrial environment is not an option, it is a must. The first line of defense against the invisible risks of toxic gases, flammable gases or oxygen deficiency is a fixed detection system, always vigilant. At Alava Ingenieros, we design and implement robust security solutions based on Crowcon’s state-of-the-art fixed systems technology, ensuring uninterrupted protection for your personnel, your assets and the environment.
Anatomy of a Fixed Detection System
A fixed system is much more than a detector; it is an intelligent security network composed of three key elements:
- Detectors: These are the “senses” of the system, installed at strategic points where a leak is most likely to originate or accumulate. Using various technologies (infrared and catalytic for flammable gases, electrochemical for toxic gases and oxygen), they continuously and accurately monitor the atmosphere.
- The Control Panel: This is the “brain” that centralizes all the information. It receives signals from the detectors, displays real-time gas concentrations, records events and, most importantly, makes decisions. When a predefined alarm level is reached, the panel activates the next layer of the system.
- The Alarm and Action Devices: They are the “voice” and “arms” of the system. The control panel activates sirens and beacons to alert personnel immediately and, through its relays, can execute critical automatic actions: close valves, start air extraction systems or initiate an emergency shutdown in the plant.
