LVDT technology is based on a robust, non-contact inductive principle. A moving ferromagnetic core moves within a set of coils, altering the magnetic coupling between them. This change is translated into a voltage signal that is directly proportional to the position of the core. This methodology has unmatched intrinsic advantages:

  • Infinite service life: As there is no contact or friction between the moving parts, there is no mechanical wear.
  • Infinite resolution: The LVDT can detect infinitesimal position changes; the only limitation is the conditioning electronics.
