The Rise of Technology in Controlled Environments
Measuring particle concentration in a controlled environment is particularly useful in applications such as cleanrooms, filtration systems in operating rooms, and packaging facilities in the pharmaceutical industry, among others.
These types of enclosed spaces must maintain specific environmental parameters that are strictly controlled to prevent deviations beyond a narrow margin. Thus, factors such as ambient temperature and humidity, air pressure and flow, the absence of electromagnetic interference, and, of course, the contaminant particles present in the space are controlled: both those released from the materials used (inorganic) and microbiological particles (inert organic and viable organic).
Some of the facilities that require cleanrooms include clinical diagnostics and biotechnology laboratories. They are also found in the optical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries, among others.
