While the human eye and standard cameras see the world in three colors (red, green and blue), hyperspectral cameras capture hundreds of “colors” or spectral bands for each pixel in the image. This creates a chemical “fingerprint” of each material, enabling classification and detection impossible to achieve with traditional machine vision.
