ACUITY laser sensors: high-precision non-contact measurement for automation and quality control.

Description

ACUITY is the specialist in non-contact laser metrology. Its range includes triangulation sensors for high-precision distance measurements and profilometers for 2D/3D scanning of surfaces. They are the ideal tool for in-line quality control and high-speed process automation.

Enriched Content

In modern manufacturing, the need to accurately measure objects that are hot, moving at high speed or too delicate for physical contact is increasingly common. For these challenges, non-contact laser measurement technology is the answer. At Alava Ingenieros, we partner with ACUITY, a leader and innovator in the field of laser displacement sensors, to offer cutting-edge solutions for quality control and process automation.

ACUITY’s strength lies in its deep understanding of optical metrology, offering the right technology for every application:

  • High Precision Triangulation Sensors: This is the core of their offering. A laser diode projects a spot of light onto the surface of the object. The reflected light is captured by an optical detector (CMOS) from a known angle. Any change in the distance of the object alters the position of the light spot on the detector, allowing the displacement to be calculated with micrometer accuracy and at speeds of thousands of measurements per second.
  • Profilometers and 2D/3D ScannersTaking triangulation one step further, these sensors project a laser line instead of a point. This makes it possible to capture the complete profile of an object cross-section in a single measurement. With this data, it is possible to verify angles, radii, detect defects or, by moving the object, reconstruct a complete 3D point cloud for a full dimensional inspection.
  • Long Distance Sensors (Time-of-Flight): For applications that require measuring distances of several meters or even hundreds of meters, ACUITY offers sensors based on the “time-of-flight” principle, which measure the time it takes for a light pulse to travel to the object and return.
Applications that Drive Quality and Productivity

The ACUITY sensor range is a key component in Industry 4.0:

  • In-Line Quality Control: Dimensional verification of 100% of the parts produced, thickness measurement of steel or wood plates, and surface flatness check.
  • Process AutomationRobot guidance, material positioning on conveyor belts and closed loop control in lamination or extrusion processes.
  • Logistics and Civil Engineering: Level measurement in silos, crane positioning or road profile monitoring.

With ACUITY’s advanced technology and the integration support of Alava Ingenieros, your company can reach new levels of precision, improve quality and optimize production efficiency.
