Preditec has reached a distribution agreement with the Canadian company Iris Power, a leader in the sector backed by 25 years of experience and offering a wide range of sensors and diagnostic instruments, including its high-quality solutions for monitoring the condition of electrical parameters in rotating machinery.

Thanks to the solutions provided by our new technology partner, we can detect faults in our assets early on, thereby extending their useful life.

In this way, Preditec is adding a technology to its portfolio of solutions that many of its customers have been requesting, and is complementing its offering of solutions for monitoring mechanical parameters (such as vibration), thereby cementing Preditec’s position as a leading company in the predictive maintenance sector. Founded in 1900, Iris Power is a Canadian sensor manufacturer that has become one of the market leaders thanks to its online and offline partial discharge monitoring solutions.

It provides high-quality equipment and services for collecting the data needed to effectively monitor motors rated at 3.3 kV or higher, hydrogenerators, and small and large turbogenerators.

In 2010, Iris Power formed a business partnership with Qualitrol Corp, a U.S. corporation founded in 1945 and specializing in asset condition monitoring, which eventually acquired the Canadian company.

Services

Online Electrical Testing Services

Iris Power’s consulting and installation services for its systems, as well as online electrical testing. The specific services and tests that Iris Power performs through its Field Services Group include:

Determine the location of the capacitive partial discharge couplers based on the type of installation, and commission the continuous monitoring system to ensure optimal system performance.

  • Determine the location of the flow probe.
  • Commissioning and startup of the continuous monitoring system.
  • Determine the location and provide support for the installation of vibration sensors on the ends of coils.
  • Determining the number and location of sensors for monitoring the air gap in hydrogen generators.
  • Measurement and Diagnosis of Partial Discharges.
  • Rotary Flow Measurements and Diagnostics.
  • Measurements and Diagnosis of Vibrations in Coil Heads.
  • Testing and Interpretation of the Statostatic Current Signature for Detecting Broken Bars in Squirrel-Cage Rotors.
  • Seminars and training on any of these topics.
Offline Electrical Testing Services

Set of offline electrical tests to determine the condition of the stator, rotor, and winding conductor insulation.

  • Reduced-Flux Test (ELCID) to detect defects in the magnetic core.
  • Analyzer for the SWA test to determine the efficiency of the coil fasteners inside the magnetic core.
  • Bump test to determine the efficiency of the tie-offs and separators at the reel head.
  • DC Overvoltage Test (HIPOT).
  • Delta Tangent, Tip-up, and Geometric Capacity Test.
  • Offline Partial Discharge Test.
  • Insulation Resistance Test, Polarization Index, and Absorption Index.
  • Winding Strength Test.
  • EDAII Test or Polarization/Depolarization Test.
  • Surge Test (Shock Waves) to detect short circuits between turns.
  • Seminars and training on any of these topics.
