BIM Digitization

Accustomed to viewing topography, cities, and urban planning in 2D on our screens, digitalization has become an integral part of our lives as a precise technology. In this case, we are referring to BIM technology.

Thanks to this technology, it is becoming increasingly common to view 3D displays in which the terrain takes center stage, offering great detail and realism and providing information that helps us enhance our projects.

In a world where maintaining leadership and competitiveness is becoming increasingly difficult, BIM-based digitalization of infrastructure is an essential tool. Collaboration among stakeholders requires practical, comprehensive, and accurate information to work effectively without wasting resources.

Designers, builders, installers, maintenance personnel, owners, and operators. Everyone must use the same tools and speak a common language. This need has given rise to digitalization.

It’s time for the data

“It’s the age of data,” and the LiDAR and modeling solutions —along with the expertise that we at Álava Ingenieros | Grupo Álava make available to the industry—make all the difference in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure, thereby extending its useful life and providing valuable information for decision-making.

This type of work methodology is applied to various types of infrastructure or structures, such as the following:

Using this data and BIM methodology, a collaborative approach to project design and management is created. This approach centralizes all project information—geometry, timelines, costs, maintenance, etc.—in a digital model generated collaboratively by all project stakeholders.

BIM digitization is here, and it’s here to stay.

Since December 2018, it has been mandatory to implement BIM methodology in Spain for procurement files related to services—design and project management—and construction work in public building tenders.
