Description
The HFG02 Harmonic and Flicker Generator is a multi-function electronic load created for the verification of test equipment. It provides a simple and reliable method to externally check the performance of measurement systems against harmonic and inter-harmonic (EN/IEC 61000-3-2) and flicker (EN/IEC 61000-3-3-3) standards. It is most useful in tests that rely on software and calculations, where the response is not intuitive.
As a stand-alone device, the HFG02 generates a range of harmonic and flicker disturbances with nominal but stable levels. It connects directly to the test set and simulates an EUT, generating known and repeatable disturbance levels. In addition to fixed and fluctuating harmonic modes, the HFG02 introduces inter-harmonic modes and EUT simulation modes (half-wave rectifier, analog dimmer). A key feature is its dual operation capability, automatically detecting and adapting to 115Vac/60Hz and 230Vac/50Hz systems.
General Characteristics
-
Stable load simulation: Ensures repeatable measurements.
- Extended regulatory compliance: Injects harmonics, interharmonics and flicker according to EN standards.
- Harmonic test modes:
- Fixed (steady state).
- Fluctuating (between two load levels).
- Interharmonics at 5 Hz and 10 Hz rates.
- Flicker test modes:
- 1 Hz rate.
- 8.33 Hz (for 50 Hz) or 8.6 Hz (for 60 Hz) rate.
- EUT simulation modes: Simulates waveforms generated by:
- Half-wave rectifier.
- Analog dimmer.
- Intermittent flicker.
- Dual Supply Operation:
- Automatically detects 115 Vac and 230 Vac systems.
- It adjusts its output to match, with voltage and frequency indicators.
- Independent power supply: To avoid contamination of test signals.
