Bearings are one of the critical components in powertrains, and failures in any of their components can be diagnosed through vibration analysis.

Bearing failure, in its earliest stage, excites the highest frequencies, and as deterioration progresses, that excitation range shifts downward until it reaches the speed range; therefore, various parameters must be monitored to assess the bearing’s condition. These parameters may include the overall speed value, the overall acceleration value, and specific filtered parameters for impact detection. Based on how these parameters evolve, the bearing’s condition of deterioration can be diagnosed across its various stages.
