The School of Industrial Engineering is an academic unit within the University of Extremadura, located on the Badajoz campus. It operates through numerous research groups, including one that specializes in materials. This group focuses on the following areas of research:

• Material Analysis and Characterization
• Development of Materials for Biomedical Applications
• Preparation and Applications of Carbonaceous Materials
• Processing of Advanced Ceramic Materials
• Mechanical Properties of Materials in Contact
• Recycling, Reuse, and Waste Recovery

For both scientific-technical and strategic reasons, there is a need to acquire a benchtop platform for multi-test tribological and instrumented indentation testing, which Álava Ingenieros | Grupo Álava will supply. It will complement the existing tribometers and mechanical testing machines. This is a multidisciplinary research tool that can be of great use to research groups in various fields of study or lines of work within the field of tribology and indentation (mechanical properties of materials). It will help promote the establishment of a mechanical properties laboratory at the University of Extremadura that has the potential to become a national and international leader in its field.

Given its versatility, there are many existing lines of research—some of which are still in their early stages—at the University of Extremadura that will certainly benefit greatly from the acquisition of a benchtop platform for multitest tribological and instrumented indentation testing, which we offer at Álava Ingenieros | Grupo Álava.
