The AC Network Emulator for CENER

CENER is a national research and technology center dedicated to the research, experimentation, development, and promotion of renewable energy in Spain. It drives the technological development of these energy sources, adapting to the needs and pace of companies, public agencies, and institutions, and combining research, development, and technology transfer with the provision of technical assistance services.

Álava Ingenieros and its partner Cinergia have entered into an agreement to equip the “Atenea” microgrid experimental center, located at CENER’s headquarters in Sangüesa (Navarre), with a system of high-power regenerative converters to be integrated into its AC grid, enabling the development and refinement of control algorithms. This is a 435-kW regenerative AC grid emulator for testing in the R&D&I environment focused on high power, smart grid control, and energy efficiency in the field of smart grids.
