PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Regional quality system

The main objective of this project, part of the Regional Program to Support Quality and the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures in Central America (PRACAMS) and managed by the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), was to strengthen the integration of the region's countries in quality systems and phytosanitary measures. This sought to facilitate regional and international access for Central American products and promote a harmonized and internationally recognized regional quality system through regional networks.

How we made it happen

Specialized knowledge

PRACAMS, through the international cooperation and development aid programs of the European Union EuropeAid, developed an international public tender for the supply, installation and commissioning of technological equipment in 20 National Metrology Laboratories and Technological Institutes in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

The contract included the installation and commissioning of various metrology and testing equipment, as well as training and technical support services, with the aim of enabling the recipient centers to maximize the performance of the technological equipment supplied.

RESULTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

International project

Metrology and testing equipment was put into operation in six Central American countries, accompanied by specialized training to maximize its use. This contract reinforced our international expansion, especially in Latin America, where we already had an office in Lima (Peru).
