Course on analysis and diagnosis of vibrations in turbomachinery
Specialization course for diagnostics of flexible shaft turbo-machines based on vibration analysis and other physical parameters
Description
This course is oriented to the monitoring and diagnosis of failures in flexible shaft turbomachinery (machines that operate above the first critical speed of the shaft), by means of specific multichannel vibration analysis techniques. Tools such as Spectrum Maps, Bode and Nyquist Diagrams, Shaft Centerline Chart (SCL), Orbits, etc. are used and explained for diagnosis, specifically in the understanding and diagnosis of Unbalance (Multiplane), Misalignment, Rocks, Oil Whirl.
*Prerequisites: Proven knowledge of Vibration Analysis. CATII or equivalent. Notions of Dynamics and Structures.
Objectives
Specific diagnosis of failures in turbogroups, turbochargers and turbopumps.
Syllabus
- Symptom identification and fault detection in turbomachinery
- Analysis and interpretation of the most common failures: Unbalance, misalignment, friction, clearances, oil whirl, oil whip. Fault identification by Orbital and Spectral analysis.
- Transient analysis. Amplitude-phase vector monitoring. Bode and Nyquist diagrams. 3D diagrams and order tracking. Application of turbogroup starts and stops.
