ALL consultants agree that following the recommendations of the different methods and procedures that have emerged in recent years: RCM, TPM; RBM, ….., PdM (predictive) should be used whenever possible and all its associated condition monitoring techniques should be applied: vibration, thermography, ultrasound, MCA, … in the early detection of the different failure modes that an asset may present.

Up to this point we can say that this would be “the easy part” of the audit. The picture becomes more complicated when we must audit whether the PdM is correctly implemented in those plants that have it in operation or when we must implement it together with the techniques that allow detecting the different failure modes in a safe way that makes it possible to replace PM ranges with PdM ranges.

Implementation of PdM techniques

This support service for the implementation of the predictive maintenance plan is essential in those predictive departments that are newly implemented or undergoing a reorganization.

The points to be addressed are as follows:

  • Basic PDM training: We provide specialized training for your team, ensuring that they are prepared to use PDM tools effectively and maintain a culture of continuous improvement. In our program there are specialized courses in the different predictive techniques (vibration, thermography, ultrasound, tribology, electrical testing such as current analysis, MCA and Partial Discharge…).
  • Marking and identification of measurement points on the machines: During the implementation, we plan days in the plant to mark the measurement points, reducing the errors that may appear due to confusion of the location of the sensors by the people in charge of data collection.
  • Training in field data collection
  • Communication between data collector and predictive analytics software
  • Training in the realization of reports and courses with real cases.

Database Generation and Optimization

Preditec makes available to its customers all the knowledge of its expert predictive analysts, in order to optimize the results of predictive maintenance plans, this includes:

  • Selection of measurement points.
  • Configuration of database and alarms according to calculated criteria, international standards and the indications of our experts.
  • Configuration of measurement parameters: maximum frequency, cut-off frequency, averages, window, monitoring parameters, overlapping, sensitivity…
  • Definition of monitoring parameters for the most common failure modes depending on the type of machinery.
  • Configuration of typical failure frequencies of bearings, gears, fans, pumps, compressors and electric motors.
  • Configuration of additional parameters for manual input in the field such as temperatures, pressures, flow rates, consumptions…
  • Configuration of coded notes on visual inspections of machines.
  • Alarm configuration for each monitoring parameter based on historical data (if any), international standards and Preditec analyst’s estimates.
  • Definition and configuration of measurement routes.
  • Generation of the baseline.
  • Documentation of the work performed.
