Description
While this thermographic inspection technique is very intuitive when observing images and detecting hot spots, correct temperature measurement can be complex given the variety of influencing factors present in the non-contact temperature measurement chain, hence the course describes precautions and practical tips for use in the field.
Objectives
The Practical Course on Thermographic Inspection is aimed at maintenance technicians who wish to learn the basic concepts of this technique as well as its applications.
Syllabus
- Fundamental concepts. Electromagnetic radiation. Heat transfer. Energy of the thermographic image. Transmissivity. Radiometry. Infrared imaging systems. Windows and filters. Limitations of the technique.
- Thermographic inspection report generation. What to measure, how to measure and when to measure. Interpretation of thermographic images and fault diagnosis. Uses of diagnostic tools.
- Practical considerations for a correct thermographic inspection.
