Another application of the PRE5050 Expert Machinery Tester is the predictive monitoring of rotating machines. By recording the overall vibration values, the envelope value and the temperature, it is possible to monitor the evolution of a machine from its initial state until it develops a fault.
Perhaps the most innovative feature of this equipment is the automatic diagnostic function using green, yellow, orange and red color indicators, depending on the severity of the fault. After indicating the machine’s rotor speed to the equipment, a very intuitive graph shows the overall vibration levels, the degree of unbalance, misalignment, clearances and deterioration of the bearings.

The PRE5050 Expert Machinery Tester is a unique instrument that includes the following features and functions in a small instrument:
- 128×128 pixels color display.
- Dimensions: 150 x 60 x 35 mm.
- Alkaline or rechargeable batteries (NiMH AA).
- Measurement of the overall vibration value ISO 10816-3, mm/s rms (10 Hz – 1 kHz) and peak value.
- Measurement of the overall acceleration value in rms and peak value ( 500 Hz – 16 kHz).
- Measurement of the overall value of the displacement in rms and peak value (1 Hz – 1 kHz).
- Measurement of the envelope value.
- Degree of unbalance, misalignment, clearances and condition of bearings.
- Infrared temperature measurement, pyrometer function.
- Vibration velocity spectrum, mm/s, 0 – 200 Hz, automatic detection of frequency and amplitude of the three main peaks in this range.
- Envelope waveform, g-ENV, filtered in the 0.5 to 16 kHz band.
- Automatic detection of machine rotation speed.
- Vibration acceleration value in three frequency bands, Low 0.5 – 1.5 kHz, Medium: 1.5 – 5 kHz, High: 5 – 16 kHz.
- Predefined alarm values for each evaluation parameter.
- Listening to internal machine noises, stethoscope function.
- Stroboscope with a range of 10 – 18,000 cpm.
- Flashlight function, for inspection of dark areas.
All these functions allow the technician to detect faults from their initial state.
